6. Engagement of Legal Services

Engagement of JBP Law’s legal services is governed by a separate written costs agreement provided at the time of engagement, in accordance with our obligations under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).

The costs agreement will set out the scope of work, fee structure (including fixed-fee options for eligible matters), payment terms, disbursements, and your rights regarding costs disputes. No legal services are provided until a costs agreement has been signed and any required deposit received.

7. Fees and Payment

Our fees are matter-based with full written costs disclosure when, or as soon as practicable after, we are instructed. Fee structures include:

  • Fixed-fee options for defined tasks such as strategic case reviews, bail applications and select guilty-plea matters
  • Time-based or staged fees for complex litigation including defended hearings, jury trials and appeals

Disbursements (such as filing fees, subpoenas, interpreter fees or expert reports) are passed through at cost with prior approval. Payment is accepted by card or bank transfer. Agreed instalment arrangements may be available on request.

Full fee details are provided in the costs agreement before work commences.

8. No Guarantees of Outcome

JBP Law does not guarantee, promise or imply any particular outcome in any legal matter. No lawyer can guarantee the outcome of court proceedings. Past results do not guarantee or predict future outcomes.

Where we refer to success rates, case outcomes or results on our website, these are provided for general information only. Each matter is assessed individually based on its own facts, evidence and circumstances.
